System conditions

Electricity demand in the province of West Nusa Tenggara is supplied by several isolated systems, ie systems of Lombok, West Sumbawa, Sumbawa and Bima.

Of the four systems that supply electricity in the province of West Nusa Tenggara, all electrical systems (systems of Lombok, West Sumbawa, Sumbawa and Bima) are in the condition of “deficit”.

Currently electrification ratio of West Nusa Tenggara Province reached 32.51% and the ratio of electrified villages by 100%. The PLN waiting list has reached 145.646 request or at 116.1 MVA.

Balance of Power

Balance of Power of West Nusa Tenggara Province in 2010 until the year 2014 is quite good, although the power reserve in 2010 and 2011 is quite small.

Additional Electricity Infrastructure Plan

Assuming projected population growth of West Nusa Tenggara province at 1.2% per year and the economic growth of 6.7%, the electricity demand on the system is expected to grow at an average of 8.3% per year.

In an effort to meet the needs of electricity in the province of West Nusa Tenggara, it has been planned additional electricity infrastructure from the year 2010-2014 as follows:

  • Power plants of 383 MW (about 85 MW is expected to be operational in 2010)
  • Transmission power 809 kms
  • 460 MVA substation
  • new renewable energy program (EBT) and network:
    • PLTS 50 WP is spread as much as 74,105 units
    • Centralized PLTS 15 kW 13 units
    • MHP 2150 kW
    • PLTAngin 2500 kW
    • Substation distribution unit 2840 (142 000 kVA)
    • Medium Voltage Network 6005 kms
    • Low Voltage Network 6260 kms
    • 8 units of diesel (2,000 kW).
