Maluku Province

System conditions

Electricity demand in Maluku province is supplied by several isolated systems, ie systems of Ambon, Namlea, Tual, Saumlaki, Mako, Piru, Bula, Masohi, Dobo, and Langgur.

Of the 10 systems that supply electricity in the province of Maluku, 9 system (Systems Namlea, Tual, Saumlaki, Mako, Piru, Bula, Masohi, Dobo, and Langgur) are in the condition of “surplus”, and one other system (System Ambon) is on the condition of “deficit”.

Currently the new Maluku Province electrification ratio reaches 54.51% and the ratio of electrified villages of 82.17%. The PLN waiting list has reached 1287 requests or of 1.2 MVA.

Balance of Power

Province of Maluku and North Maluku electrical power needs are served by the the Maluku and North Maluku electrical system so that the provinces is represented by the balance of power of Maluku and North Maluku system, where in 2010 through 2014 the system is in good condition.

Additional Electricity Infrastructure Plan

Assuming projected population growth in Maluku and North Maluku region of 2.4% per year and the economic growth of 6.2%, the electricity demand on the system is expected to grow at an average of 7.1% per year.

In an effort to meet the needs of electricity in the province of Maluku, has planned additional electricity infrastructure from the year 2010-2014 as follows:

  • Power plants of 120 MW (about 39 MW is expected to be operational in 2010)
  • Transmission power 399 kms
  • the  130 MVA Substation
  • new renewable energy program (EBT) and network:
    • PLTS 50 WP spread as much as 29,370 units
    • Centralized PLTS 15 kW 8 units
    • PLTMH 530 kW
    • PLTwind 800 kW
    • The 1485 distribution substation units (79 250 kVA)
    • Medium Voltage Network 3490 kms
    • Low Voltage Network 3200 kms
    • 13 units of diesel (4,000 kW).

North Maluku Province

 System Conditions

Electricity demand in North Maluku province is supplied by several isolated systems, ie systems Ternate, Soa Siu, the Vedas, Bacan, Dofa, Jailolo, Sanana, Tobelo, Subaim, Maba-Buli, Patani, and Sofifi.

Of the 12 systems that supply electric power in North Maluku province, 4 system (System Soa Siu, the Vedas, Maba-Buli, and Patani) are in the condition of “surplus”, and 8 other system (System Ternate, Bacan, Dofa, Jailolo, Sanana , Tobelo, Subaim, and Sofifi) is in condition of “deficit”.

  • Transmission power 128 kms
  • new renewable energy program (EBT) and network:
    • PLTS 50 WP is spread as much as 57,450 units
    • Centralized PLTS 15 kW 8 units
    • PLTMH 530 kW
    • PLTwind 910 kW
    • Substation distribution unit 2240 (111 750 kVA)
    • Medium Voltage Network 6160 kms
    • Low Voltage Network 5160 kms
    • Diesel 18 units (6,000 kW).
