Indonesia’s state electricity firm profit up 37.1 pct in first nine months

Indonesia’s state electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara, or PT PLN, witnessed 40.4 trillion rupiah (some 3.322 billion U.S. dollars) profit in January to September this year, up 37.1 percent from the same period last year, according to a statement from the firm Tuesday.

The profit may allow the company to boost its mission to expand electrification ratio in the vast archipelago country.

“The ratio of cost of business is lower than the rise of revenue, which indicates the continuation of efficiency undertaken by the PT PLN,” Bambang Dwinyanto, spokesman of the firm said in the statement.
