Indonesian Geothermal Power Set to Draw Worldwide Interest

A recent revision to geothermal law passed in Indonesia is likely to kick-start interest in geothermal power generation in the volcano-dotted country. The new legislation, passed on Aug. 26, has eased regulatory restrictions for the development of geothermal resources.

The law removes the ban on the development of geothermal fields located in forest conservation areas and raises the prices at which power generated with geothermal energy is purchased.
