Indonesia mulls further developing geothermal power: minister

BALI, Indonesia, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) — Indonesia needes to further develop renewable energy projects, particularly geothermal power plants, to address the sustainable development drive and cope with increasing demand on electricity, the country’s energy minister said on Sunday.

Energy Minister Jero Wacik said Sunday that despite the abundance of geothermal deposit in the country, Indonesia is yet to adequately tap the energy source.

Jero added that government needs more cooperation with investors to do so as investment in geothermal energy was too expensive to be financed by the government only.
