After a Series of Delays, Govt Steps in on Central Java Power Project

The national government is intensifying the pressure on stakeholders involved in a long-awaited coal-fired power plant in Batang, Central Java, after the project was hit by a series of delays.

Hatta Rajasa, the coordinating minister for the economy, announced on Wednesday the establishment of a task force to expedite the construction of the power plant. Hatta made the announcement after meeting with related ministries, local government officials and executives from state-utility firm Perusahaan Listrik Negara. “It must be done by October,” Hatta said.
