Sintesa Group to Build 1,000-MW Plants by 2020

The Sintesa Group, a conglomerate group led by businesswoman Shinta Widjaja Kamdani, plans to build power plants with capacity at 1,000 megawatts by 2020 to help meet the energy needs of the country as the economy continues to grow.

“As we all know, every 100 percent increase in GDP [gross domestic product] results in a 200 percent increase in energy demand,” said Shinta, chief executive of the Sintesa Group, at a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday. “We want to build 200 megawatt capacity facilities per year until 2020.”
