Indonesia’s PLN Signs Deal to Purchase Electricity from Malaysia

Pontianak. State-owned electricity provider PLN inked a deal to purchase electricity from the Malaysian state of Sarawak to power some regions in West Kalimantan for five years, the company said.

The purchase will cover shortages until three power plants currently under construction are completed, PLN president director Nur Pamudji said.

“We plan to do the purchase between 2014 and 2019,” Nur said in Pontianak, after signing the deal in Sarawak on Wednesday.
