Coal, gas to ‘dominate’ power plants

Coal energy should be the main source for Indonesia’s electricity supply as the country gradually reduces its “addiction” to fossil fuels for power plants, National Energy Council (DEN) member Herman Darnel Ibrahim said Tuesday.

He said that both coal-based and gas-fired power plants will function as interim energy sources while the government develops renewable-energy technology to exploit geothermal and biomass potential.
